The Little Mermaid, based on the beloved Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale, will be the Academy Recital 2012 this season.
The story of The Little Mermaid, first published in 1837, is a fairy tale about a young mermaid willing to give up her life in the sea for the love of a human prince “I based my ballet on the original Hans Christian Andersen tale with adaptations that make it possible as a ballet,” said Artistic Director Deborah Rayburn. “There are comedic elements and it’s entertaining for the entire family.”
